life together

Perhaps it is not what I can bring to the table.  But who comes.

Thy gifts. Not of my making.

A favorite C.S. Lewis quote about friendship, but applies to all whom Christ invites to the table:

But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking, no chances. A secret Master of the Ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you," can truly say to every group of Christian friends "You have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another." . . . At this feast it is He who has spread the board and it is He who has chosen the guests. It is He, we may dare to hope, who sometimes does, and always should, preside. Let us not reckon without our Host.
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

Wonderful photo. And I am reminded of a women's retreat we held at our church, years ago, called "Bringing Our Gifts to the Table" ... thanks for the quote that made me remember. Wishing you a peaceful Lenten season, and many blessings, of course. And thanks for stopping to visit my blog. Now that I am off of Facebook (too much noise from too many voices!) I have time to write more posts, and to read more novels! Bliss.

I Really, REALLY liked that.
so true...we can do extravagant things , in enticing people to "our table"
but if they Don't come
it is for naught
and WHAT THEY BRING, in experience and knowledge, etc, is far more important.
that is when we all grow
learning from each other.

Sweet photo and true message. It's not what's on the table. It's who is sitting around it.
